Modern Day Dating: Long Distance

Monday, June 12, 2017

While reflecting over the last couple of weeks I realized long distance is not for me.
In New York, I briefly met someone, Jay. He was a bassist, tall tan and handsome.  I didn't go to
New York looking for anyone but I was still open to the possibility.

The trip to New York was only for a week and I knew that. We started texting back and forth, the conversation was easy and exciting. The day came when I had to leave and I said nothing about where I was from. We continued to text when he said; 'Looking at your profile and it says your 600
miles away lol.'

I was 600 miles away, and I wouldn't come back until the winter. I confessed and have not heard from him since. The truth is I am a little hurt but not surprised. Long distance is not for everyone. I don't think it's for me either. Long distance requires MORE commitment, more communication, and appreciation.

I know for a fact I am not the best at communication. I assume that people know what I am thinking.
Things like assuming can kill a long distance relationship. I don't think we were looking for anything serious. This guy ghosted on me so I know he wasn't ready. As I go through the reasons why this didn't work, I know the one for me is out there somewhere probably getting his heart broken too. It's just a matter of time.

What do you think of long distance relationships? Are you in one?
